About Us
The Halfway House Inn is an independent freehouse, just on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in Devon. The owner, Clive Pattison, has lived in the Tavistock area for 27 years and took over the Inn in March 2008. The front of house team and the chefs in the kitchens aim to give you a wonderful dining experience.
The Inn dates back to the 17th Century, and gets its name from being half way between the Barbican in Plymouth and Launceston, the ancient capital of Cornwall. Situated in the hamlet of Grenofen, just two miles from Tavistock, the Halfway House is a perfect destination for walkers, cyclists or those just out on a drive. With our large car park and beer garden with stunning views across to Dartmoor, you can relax and enjoy a drink or a meal while taking in the glorious Devon countryside. With the Route 27 cycle path coming online this year, this should open up Grenofen to more visitors, and with the path coming through our car park, we will be the perfect stop on route for the hungry and thirsty.
Our business is based on the belief that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. Our team is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. We welcome feedback, whether good or bad, about the service and food that we provide. If you did not complete a comments card when you visited us, please go to the 'Contact Us' page and send your comments from there.
At the moment we are unable to offer accomodation, but we would recommend Overcombe House in Horrabridge .
We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you a wonderful dining experience
